David works predominantly in Commercial + Property law, where he deals with a broad range of matters including leasing, commercial business sales and purchases and rural transactions. He has been exposed to a broad range of matters including succession planning and litigation.
David enjoys working in Commercial + Property law because it involves a delicate balance between legal processes and commerciality. He also considers it a constructive and useful area of law, particularly when he can assist a client to safely pursue a commercial opportunity.
Clients appreciate David’s analytical, commercial and rational approach to his matters. He advises and guides his clients through commercial disputes to avoid the need for expensive and stressful litigation. David genuinely enjoys interacting with clients and providing clear, practical legal advice to help clients through transactions as efficiently as possible.
David has experience working on the sale of complicated businesses and assets, including those of a unique nature, and has drafted contracts and deeds to govern unusual and sophisticated commercial arrangements.
Prior to being admitted as a lawyer, David was a police officer for seven years. He spent four years as a Police Prosecutor in the trials module of the Ipswich District Prosecutions Corp. David has also worked for Legal Aid Queensland.
David enjoys working in law because it represents to him the pinnacle of human creativity and culture. He sees the law as an abstract construct that exists to balance the rights and duties of all citizens, and considers it part of our living history, evolving organically with our society, technology and environment.
