About
Anna Battle is an enthusiastic and energetic artist and small business owner of Shiny Happy Art. Anna has been creating artworks for and with the Toowoomba community since 2011, and teaching online since 2015.
Anna has exhibited her work locally in Toowoomba and Dalby for many years, and has participated in a solo exhibition at the Injune Creek Gallery in 2017.
Anna is very involved in our local community, she was a Creative Advisor for the Grand Central Floral Parade in 2021 and 2022 and was guest speaker at the Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce Leading Women’s Luncheon in August 2022.
During her residency at Clifford Gouldson Lawyers, Anna engaged the team in an online workshop and encouraged them to stretch their creative muscles and sketch the items on their desk. She later collaged these pieces into a collage that was auctioned for charity at the opening night function.
Anna’s charity of choice was Hope Horizons. A proportion of proceeds from all art sold at the opening night, and 100% of the proceeds of the auctioned piece raised over $3,000 to support the valuable work Hope Horizons does in supporting cancer patients and their loved ones.
Artist Statement
I have been a painter for as long as I can remember, and quite simply, I really enjoy painting and sketching in public. The interactions with strangers when I am urban sketching, and with viewers while painting live, are some of the most delightful I have each day, and I’m more than happy to share my techniques, skills and ideas, in order to inspire.
I love encouraging people to not only understand their inherent creativity (whatever their job may be), but to also pick up a pencil or brush and have a go at drawing or painting – it just makes your life so much richer. And it’s good for you. It’s Art Fitness.
My body of original work is always evolving. At the moment I am particularly interested in recording ‘the mess of life’ and I tried to capture some of the details of working in the Clifford Gouldson offices. Our homes and offices change as our stages of life change… and I love recording these ‘ordinary’ moments in a beautiful way. For this residency I painted mainly in acrylic, producing a collection that celebrates the beauty of the day-to-day, both at home and at work.
