CGCollect service
The most important first step in recovering a debt is to have a lawyer-approved letter of demand prepared and sent which includes a set date for payment. So that’s what we do for you after receiving payment of our low fixed fee and information about the debt necessary for the letter of demand.
After that letter is sent and a reasonable amount of time has passed without payment, we’ll call the debtor to seek payment.
There is no guarantee that your debtor will pay immediately. However, a legal letter of demand will often provide strong motivation for someone to pay. It also demonstrates that you are serious about recovering the money and prepares you to take further steps if necessary.
If you don’t receive payment as a result of the letter of demand or phone call, we will provide you with your best options for further pursuing your money.
What does it cost?
CGCollect is designed to be affordable for the recovery of relatively small debts up to $20,000. Our modest fixed fee for a once off debt is $440 including GST.
Where a business may have more than one debt to collect we offer a sliding scale discount for volume jobs. Discounted rates can be provided where we take on a bundle of debts at one time or, subject to discussion with us, may apply where a volume of debts is pursued for you over the course of a 12 month period.
Amounts above $20,000 are not suitable for the CGCollect service so if the debt you want to recover is more than $20,000, we’ll undertake that work for you within our usual service offering from our Litigation + Dispute Resolution Team.
Payment is required at the time of requesting the letter of demand and we will contact you once we have received your completed form to arrange payment.
Is this a no win, no fee service?
No, CGCollect does not offer a no win, no fee service.
Is this a commission based service?
No, we are a law firm not a commercial debt recovery company. We therefore charge for work done rather than on a commission basis.
