2022 Artist-in-Residence Announced

We are pleased to announce the selection of Anna Battle as the 2022 Clifford Gouldson Lawyers’ Artist-in-Residence.

Clifford Gouldson Director Amanda Tolson said it was a difficult selection process with a wide range of artists from across the region applying for the 2022 program.

“In the end, Anna’s body of work, playful style and enthusiasm for sharing her creative practice stood out amongst a quality group of candidates,” she said.

Anna is an enthusiastic and energetic artist and small business owner of Shiny Happy Art. Anna has been creating artworks for and with the Toowoomba community since 2011, and teaching online since 2015.

Anna has exhibited her work in Toowoomba and surrounds since 1988, and has participated in many group exhibitions as well as a solo exhibition at the Injune Creek Gallery in 2017.

Anna is very involved in our local community, she is currently a Creative Advisor for the Grand Central Floral Parade and will be guest speaker at the upcoming Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce Leading Women’s Luncheon on Wednesday 31st August.

As the 2022 Clifford Gouldson Artist-in-Residence Anna will spend each Friday over 8 weeks in the firm’s office.

“We are very much looking forward to the opportunity to see Anna at work and for our team here at Clifford Gouldson to learn more about her artistic process,” Amanda said.

“In the past our Artist-in-Residence program has brought something new and exciting to our firm and the team is really looking forward to welcoming Anna to our office.”

Anna said, “I honestly believe everyone is creative. and whatever your job or role, it’s a great thing to be able to ‘think like an artist’ because art is all about creative problem solving.”

“I’m excited to have been chosen this year and look forward to creating a new body of work that takes my loose, lively sketching style to acrylic on canvas.”

“I look forward to taking a record of the office environment and transforming it to a work of art.”

The Residency will conclude with an end of residency Opening Night function to be held on Friday 4 November 2022.
