We are pleased to announce the selection of Anne O’Sullivan as the 2023 Clifford Gouldson Lawyers’ Artist-in-Residence.
Clifford Gouldson Director Amanda Tolson said it was a difficult selection process with a wide range of artists from across the region applying for the 2023 program.
“In the end, Anne’s body of work and enthusiasm for incorporating the historical elements of the Foundry into her works stood out amongst a quality group of candidates,” she said.
Anne O’Sullivan is a talented artist and art teacher. She is one of Toowoomba’s local talents and has had her works reach collectors as far as Europe.
With Anne’s work closely tied to her artistic career, she has spent some time teaching art to children and youth in Toowoomba. She may even be recognised by some for her works for children, some of which are currently displayed at Moulton Galleries in Sydney.
Recently a finalist in the 2022 Redland Arts Award, recognised in Toowoomba’s field guide as one of 11 local artists to have on your radar, and a feature Artist at the Uralla Gallery – Anne has been leaving her mark in the art community everywhere she goes.
As the 2023 Clifford Gouldson Artist-in-Residence Anne will spend each Friday over 8 weeks in the firm’s office.
“We are very much looking forward to the opportunity to see Anne at work and for our team here at Clifford Gouldson to learn more about her artistic process,” Amanda said.
“In the past our Artist-in-Residence program has brought something new and exciting to our firm and the team is really looking forward to welcoming Anne to our office.”
Anne said, “I feel very fortunate to have been selected as artist-in-residence at a time coinciding with the opening of the new offices in the historic Foundry building.”
“I’m looking forward to researching the history of the Foundry and bringing back to life some of the stories of the people who worked in this iconic building.”
“It’s wonderful to see such a commitment to the Arts as shown by Clifford Gouldson which recognises the role that Art can play in community building and the fostering of a healthy and functional work environment.”
The Residency will conclude with an end of residency Opening Night function to display Anne’s work and also provide an opportunity for our official opening of our Foundry office. This event will be held on Friday 20th October 2023.
