Michelle Kelly is a Senior Associate in our Litigation + Dispute Resolution section who provides clients with legal solutions driven by her direct, straight-forward approach.
Michelle draws on more than 8 years of legal experience in primarily commercial litigation with a particular interest in building and construction matters. She strives to provide clients with clear communication and practical advice. Combined with her strong advocacy skills and commercial approach to her client’s business concerns Michelle is able to deliver successful outcomes to individuals and businesses involved in difficult disputes.
Michelle’s clients benefit from her intellect in dealing with deeply technical aspects of litigation, particularly in building and construction disputes. Able to identify and avoid the traps unique to complex litigation, Michelle delivers timely advice and ensures every second and every dollar spent goes towards achieving a commercial resolution without falling into a prolonged dispute.
Key projects and experience examples from Michelle’s career include:
- Acting for a contractor in a Queensland Supreme Court matter concerning the Gold Coast Light Rail Project;
- Acting for an international engineering and construction company in a Queensland Supreme Court dispute with the QBCC relating to defective building materials and fire engineering compliance issues
- Advising parties on regulatory issues under building and construction legislation, including licensing and building product laws under the Queensland Building and Construction Commission Act;
- Advising on contractual issues arising under construction contracts and consultancy agreements.
Michelle’s academic record includes a Master of Law, Bachelor of Laws (Hons), Bachelor of International Relations and Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice.
Outside of work Michelle enjoys spending time with family and friends, travelling and seeking out new experiences.
