Madeline works primarily in general property law and estates. Having worked for a number of law firms in Brisbane while studying, and for another firm in Warwick for over two years, Madeline has been exposed to numerous interesting matters.
Her work in property has ranged from acting as Team Administrator for MinterEllison’s nationally recognised Retirement Village practice in the property law team, where she worked alongside and learnt from industry experts, to the full breadth of property law at her former rural firm, where she worked on rural and residential conveyancing, leasing and business sales.
Some of her significant property matters include:
- acting for multiple land owners in relation to the sale and lease of rural residential and agricultural land to a national solar farm development company;
- acting for a seller in an auction matter relating to the sale of farming land in excess of $10 million; and
- advising a number of rural land owners in relation to a proposed wind farm development.
Madeline enjoys estate work, as she enjoys the interactions with clients, learning about their lives, their family and business structures and working with them through the ‘what ifs’ and worst case scenarios. She finds it rewarding to assist clients through what can appear to be a very dauting legal system for people at a very difficult point in their lives.
She has experience working across estate planning and administration, including successfully negotiating and settling multiple Family Provision Applications on behalf of executor clients, and ultimately avoiding court.
Madeline is friendly and approachable, which allows clients to feel comfortable communicating with her. She enjoys communicating with clients from all different walks of life. Madeline is empathetic and very organised. She is not afraid to ask questions – of clients or fellow practitioners – in order to fully understand a matter at hand.
Madeline enjoys working with clients to help them with their problems and the challenging nature of the law.
When not working, Madeline enjoys playing netball and visiting family back in Brisbane. She also volunteers on a board for Breakaway Toowoomba (Inc).
